[xcrysden] CygWin and X Server

So it dies without any error or warning message?
I have no idea what's the reason.

But wait a second, you installed the 1.5.53 verison. The 1.5.53 binary
is available only for 64bit linux. I guess you are using the wrong
package. Try this instead:
http://www.xcrysden.org/download/xc-1.5.18-cygwin-shared.tar.gz

Notice that:

1. there is no need to run xcConfigure again
2. you will need to update the XCRYSDEN_TOPDIR variable in your
~/.bashrc, and then load the new definiton, i.e.: source ~/.bashrc
